We finally reached the light at the end...

of the tunnel and it wasn't a train!  Joanna and I had 8 weddings in June and we just finished up the month last night.  After shooting hundreds of weddings, Joanna and I are still amazed at how different they all are. They all seem very similar on the surface, but you don't have to look far to see the differences.  The groups of friends, families and venues are all unique.  Friday, Stephanie carried her deceased grandfather's wedding ring in her bouquet.... he was supposed to walk her up the aisle.  Jill is a first grade teacher and wanted her ring photographed with crayons, definitely a first for us!

If you want to see more photos, just go to our recent weddings gallery. http://www.randallsonline.com/

Joanna and I have the weekend of July 4th off and we are going to spend a few days with the kids and enjoy some much needed time with family and friends.  Our next wedding is July 11th (looking forward to it Amy!).

PS:  for any of you photographers out there, if you know of a 12 step program for addiction to a Canon 85mm 1.2 I might have a problem!  I love that lens!!!!!!

It was hot and it was just monument circle!

I met Mark and Ellen on Monument Circle a few days ago.  I've done dozens of shoots (maybe hundreds) on the circle, most of them in the heat.  This was no exception.  It was hot and humid with enough heat radiating off of the limestone to cook an egg!  As soon as I started shooting with Mark and Ellen, the heat, humidity and all the "blah" limestone just disappeared!  We all had a great time just doing what we do... them being in love, and me capturing it!  I left the session in a better mood than when I started.  A good photo session will do that!  Doing what you love can do that.  Why couldn't I forget about the heat when I was weeding the garden today?

You can't make this stuff up!

Joanna and I sound like a broken record (hopefully everyone knows what a record is!?), but capturing a moment or a "little nugget of time" as I call it is just what we love to do.  This weekend was no exception.
We had weddings Saturday and Sunday and both were just full of little gems!  Dad, giving his little daughter one last look before before they head down the isle... They ring bearer trying to decide whether to go see mom or not and then going for it! :)  Mark just coming apart during the vows and then wiping a tear off of Karisa's face. The absolute joy in their faces as they leave on the carriage... I could write a book, but I'm not going too....lets just let the pics speak for themselves!

The calm before the storm

Joanna and I have been pretty busy this spring, but not crazy busy.  We have one more week and then we'll just need to put our seat belts on and go along for the ride.  We have 8 weddings booked in June!

Our past couple of weddings are just full of those little moments that Joanna and I just love to get!  The groom trying to hold it together when he sees her for the first time... the ring bearer taking a peek at the blessing of the rings (too cute!)... Jack looking very dapper next to his Rolls and of course the bride sitting on the Rolls.  Joanna just nailed a couple of ring details and of course the bride laughing hysterically.  My fav is the little baby girl laughing, again way too cute!  OK, my absolute favorite is the groomsman peeing in the bushes... yes I got it (love that 400mm lens!) and you'll just have to use your imagination! Not going to post that one, but it's a keeper for sure!

If you shoot Nikon I won't hold it against you!

Actually I don't have anything against my Nikon Brethren!  I spent almost 20 years with Nikon's in my hand, they make a great product.  This weekend I pushed my Canon 5D MKII to the limit.  (The next few sentences are kind of technical)  I spent most of the day at ISO 6400 and was so pleased with the results!  The entire Indian wedding was shot with my 85mm at f 1.2 with the ISO at 6400.  I'm blown away by the quality.  I'm not scared of a candle light ceremony anymore! :)

Nick and Sujata let us spend the entire day with them, thunder, rain wind and all!  Did I say wind?  It was sooooooo windy.  They ended the night with a beautiful fireworks display (yes the wind died down) that I recorded in Hi-Def video, again on the MKII.  Love that camera!  Love you too Nick and Sujata... almost as much as my MKII!  I'll post the video a little later.
